This blog is about the Lisbon treaty and the associated information I receive through the media, my friends, colleagues and my own research. I try to put the information into context with other news in different sectors. i.e. what is the correlation between certain political activities and revelations and the business and financial community. I do not think that both are independent and as such each cannot be judged individually on their own merits. I mull over the information and come to a conclusion, which I hope is fair and reasonable. I have had past experience in ‘feeding’ stories to the certain Irish media to achieve a certain outcome and indeed this is why I try to ‘read between the lines’ in what I read in the newspaper and what is reported on Six-One.
For this reason I set up this blog because in a few short weeks we will approach the misty waterfall of Lisbon. And we as a people and a country are involved in distractionary tactics which serve only to confuse. When we really should be educating ourselves as to what is on the other side of the waterfall, is it..
a) A long drop onto rocks or..
b) A small drop into a deep pool.
Right now nobody really knows. I have taken some time to ‘get out of the river’ and have a look over the edge and I am glad I did. As for a lot of people in Ireland they are calmly floating towards the edge, insisting they they have got the best water wings for the country. In a few weeks I don’t believe it will matter, as them wings won’t fly.
Vote whichever way you choose but if we all take the individual responsibility to educate ourselves about this treaty and ignore the zealots of both camps, then collectively we will have a fair outcome to the vote on Lisbon. If you have not educated yourself FULLY on the Lisbon treaty, then maybe you should really decide to ’Vote No’. It is wholly irresponsible to support something in blind ignorance. Though as humans we do exactly that from time to time, but in this instance we should refrain from supporting something we dont fully understand.
I am hoping for a ‘No’ but that’s just based on my conclusions after reading the treaty. I urge you to ake this opportunity to put a further stay on Lisbon.
Ignorance and hearsay is not a valid stance when you are voting on what will affect the future of your children, brothers and sisters,nephew and nieces, godchildren, friends and family.
Just to get you thinking about the upcoming ‘Ireland Friendly’ Lisbon treaty please take a look at this video. The guy speaking is from a crowd called EU Democrats. ie they believe in Democracy unlike the present Government who did not like how we voted last time round on Lisbon. The fact is Ireland is the only country in Europe that has been given a vote. This is Ireland’s LAST CHANCE to vote on anything regarding the EU. If we pass Lisbon, Europe will over rule the Irish constitution regardless of what Cowen, Enda and all the others tell us.
I urge you to take 10 minutes of your time and watch this video, and when ‘Yes’ mouthpieces come to your door advocating a yes vote, feel free to question them on what you see in this video. Trust me you will see some very uncomfortable faces!
